New Costa Rica Inn Announces Central America’s First Vacation Cooking School

Daniel Abel, Vaughn Perret, & Charles Leary announce the commencement of regular culinary vacation programs at the Inn at Coyote Mountain in central Costa Rica. Authors of the Trout Point Lodge Cookbook: Creole Cuisine from New Orleans to Nova Scotia, just published by Random House in November, and owners of the eponymous inn and cooking school, begin teaching both day classes and 3-day all-inclusive programs on February 6, 2005.

The Inn at Coyote Mountain is Costa Rica’s newst luxury accommodation located at the northern end of the Tilaran Mountains, overlooking the Pacific from over 4000 feet in alttitude. The Inn has already welcomed several groups for culinary vacations, including a coffee plantation tour, visits to local farmer’s markets, and guided hikes of the Inn’s 70-acre property planted with fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and spice tree orchards.

Day classes start in the morning and include lunch. They cost $ 99 per person. Three-day programs including lodging, all meals, and hands-on inctruction cost $ 750 per person. More information can be found at the Inn’s web site http://www.cerrocoyote.com.

Abel, Perret, & Leary also operate the Granada Cooking School in Spain. They previously ran Chicory Farm and the Chicory Farm Cafe in New Orleans. For the Costa Rica school, they designed and built and extra large kitchen with Pacific Ocean views from a huge arched window. They have already been credited with transforming Costa Rica’s reputation as a food destination.
