Calpe basically means rugged hill which is made from rock, the first founders of the city called this town Ifach which just meant north. Calpe is located in between Altea and Denia. If you go back to 1935 you will see that Calpe opened its first hotel, which became very popular with some well known celebrities of the time due to the extremely good coastal location.
